Berrien County to fill vacancies on boards

ST. JOSEPH — The Berrien County Board of Commissioners has announced the following boards or commissions have positions with vacancies and are seeking volunteers.

• The Berrien County Board of Health has one vacancy for someone with a nursing background. The board provides policy leadership and oversight for the Health Department. Meetings are  the first Wednesday of each month at 8 a.m., and the term is for five years.

The location of the meetings varies throughout the Health Department facilities.

• The Planning Commission has one vacancy for a citizen. The commission makes recommendations relating to the effective economic, social and physical growth and development to the county. The commission reviews  local master plans and makes recommendations on township rezonings. The ommission consists of individuals representing important segments of economic, governmental, educational and social life development of the county. The term is for three years. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 2:30 p.m. at the Berrien County Administration Center, 701 Main St., St. Joseph.

• The 911 Advisory Board has one vacancy for a citizen. The board promotes the 911 Emergency System and public awareness and assists the county Public Service Access Points in providing service. It also assists the Berrien County Board of Commissioners by giving advice and making suggestions with respect to the operation of the 911 Emergency System. Terms are for three years. Meetings are held bimonthly on Wednesday morning.
