Dec. 1 Safety Corner

The year 2011 has been filled with challenges for many local families.
Join the Dowagiac Department of Public Safety in support of the annual Toys for Tots drive by placing new, unwrapped toys in the boxes provided throughout our community.
A box is available in the lobby at Dowagiac City Hall.
Toys for Tots donations stay in the Dowagiac community.
Won’t you help us bring a little cheer to a Dowagiac child on Christmas morning?

Project Blue Light

Dowagiac Department of Public Safety Director Tom Atkinson encourages Dowagiac residents to once again join Concerns of Police Survivors by decorating in blue lights for the coming holiday season.
By placing one blue light in a window of your home, you’ll be showing your support for officers killed in the line of duty and those who continue to work America’s streets.
By placing strings of blue lights outside your home or place of business and all throughout the community, law enforcement officers will understand that they are appreciated.
The color blue is symbolic of peace.
By displaying your blue lights, you will be sending a dual message – that you support America’s peacekeepers and that you hope the coming year will be a year of peace.
Join us in making the Dowagiac community shine in blue in support of law enforcement during the holiday season!
Christmas tree sale
at Fire Department

Looking for a beautiful Christmas tree at a discount price?
Look no further! The Dowagiac Fire Department is offering a special sale of fresh-cut Frasier fir trees and prices range from $20 to $30.
In addition, the proceeds from the tree sales will give back to the Dowagiac community through fire prevention and educational programs for students and the public.
Stop by the fire station on Wolf Street during sale hours:
Thursday and Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. or Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m.
Bring your family out, select the perfect tree to decorate and know that your purchase will continue giving all year long and may actually save someone’s life through fire prevention awareness programs.
