Dowagiac Union High School locks down

Public Safety Director Tom Atkinson reports that the Dowagiac Police Department investigated an incident Thursday involving a possible weapon at Union High School.
Police were summoned at about 8:17 a.m. Thursday and were advised by DUHS administration that they had received information that a student may have brought a gun to school.
The school had been placed into lockdown status by the school administration as a safety precaution.
Officers and school staff were able to locate the suspected weapon, an air-soft toy gun. The weapon was seized by police and all parties involved were identified.
This incident will be forwarded to the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office for a review.
and determination on possible charges against the juveniles involved in this incident.
