CASSOPOLIS — A traffic stop for speeding on M-40 in Marcellus last July 12 uncovered 450 pounds of marijuana in 15 bales.
The nephew of the man who was being paid $5,000 to deliver the load to Grand Rapids from Indiana was sentenced Friday morning in Cass County Circuit Court by Judge Michael E. Dodge to 365 days in jail.
Hector Manuel Diaz-Batista, 23, of 1707 Eastern St., Grand Rapids, pleaded guilty Oct. 3 to count two, possession with intent to deliver.
