Krasl Art Center calls for entries

The Krasl Art Center (KAC) announces the call for entries to artists wishing to participate in the 51st annual Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff.  The art fair will be held in St. Joseph, July 14 and 15.
The success of last year’s event garnered the Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff an increased ranking from No. 25 to No. 24 on Sunshine Artist’s list of “200 Best” fine art fairs.  Among the reasons for this noteworthy ranking Sunshine Artist magazine mentioned the event volunteers, community support the beautiful setting and the profitability for artists.   Moreover, Greg Lawler’s Art Fair Source Book has given a rating of eight out of 10 to the Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff based on sales as reported by artists.  The average sale for 2011 was $4,704.
“The city of St. Joseph, along with the surrounding communities and businesses, should take pride in their contribution to status of the Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff.  Our continued success is due in-part to the enthusiasm, support and hospitality of the community,” Sara Shambarger, director of the Krasl Art Fair.

n Deadline for registration is Jan. 12.   A completed application along with uploaded images and a $30 application fee are due at that time.
n The jury process takes place on Feb. 3, and the results will be emailed to artist by Feb. 24.
n 2012 Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff  dates are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 14 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 15.
The Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff features two-and three-dimensional fine art and crafts, including drawing/ pastels, paintings, printing/graphics, digital art, jewelry, sculpture, pottery, metals, mixed media,  photography, fibers, glass and wood.
Founded in 1962 the art fair has grown from attracting 5,000 visitors to more than 75,000.  The Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff is the Krasl Art Center’s largest fundraiser; helping to make it possible for the KAC to fulfill its mission of bringing people and art together.
In addition, musical performances and food vendors are available all weekend. The Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff food court offers a bistro environment with umbrella tables and plenty of chairs. Musicians and children’s entertainment are featured at the food court and Krasl Kid’s Zone Stages throughout the weekend.
