The sentencing of one of the five Niles teenagers allegedly involved in a sex extortion scandal has been adjourned to
next week.
Leon Murphy, originally scheduled to be sentenced Monday, will now face his sentencing Monday, Nov. 7.
Murphy pleaded guilty to third degree criminal sexual conduct and possession of child pornography. He attempted to withdraw his plea in October.
He and his co-defendants, Martell Miller, Parnell Martin, Trey Nichols and Martise Washington, are accused of involvement in a scheme to blackmail an underage girl into having sex with them in March.
The case stems from a digital video recording of the victim’s sexual encounter with Washington at Nichols’ home. The victim alleges she agreed to perform sex acts with Miller, Martin and Murphy when they threatened to post the video onto Facebook if she didn’t consent.
Washington’s trial is slated for today, while Miller and Martin will face their trials beginning Nov. 29.
