Cass County Drug Enforcement
Team arrests two in Marcellus

On Oct. 27 at approximately 10 a.m., Cass County Drug Enforcement Team executed a search warrant in the 400 block of South Street in the Village of Marcellus. Detectives identified a 55-year-old male and a 54-year-old female who lived at the residence.
Detectives report locating evidence of methamphetamine being used in addition to methamphetamine.
Both subjects were taken into custody and lodged at the Cass County Jail awaiting arraignment.

Sister Lakes launches ‘Buddies’

Sister Lakes Elementary School has begun a program encouraging adult volunteers from the community to come into school and read with students on a one-to-one basis during their lunch periods.
Pairs eat lunch together, chat and read.
“So far, we’ve paired 16 volunteers with students and our first week of the program has gone well,” Principal Gretchen Hart said Thursday.

K of C fish fry Oct. 28

On Friday, Oct. 28, Knights of Columbus from Our Lady of the Lake Church, 24832 U.S. 12 East, Edwardsburg, from 5 to 8 p.m. will be hosting their second annual fish fry dinner.
Dinner includes locally-caught pan fish filets, french fries, cole slaw, rolls, beverage and desserts.
Price for adults to eat in or take out is $8.50, $5 for children age 5-12. Children under 5 are free.

‘First Friday’ fish fry Nov. 4

CASSOPOLIS — Cass County Democratic Party will hold a fish fry on the first Friday every month from 4 to 7p.m. starting Nov. 4 at its headquarters, 804 E. State St., near Family Dollar.
Dinners include catfish and pollock, slaw, roll, dessert and beverage for a $7 donation.
Eat in or carry out (no beverage with carry out).
CCDP headquarters is now a coffee shop open Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.. Drinks and snacks are available for a donation.
There are board games, cards, a library and wi fi.
All are welcome to come in for a free cup of coffee during November.

Encore art concert Nov. 5

There will be an Encore School of the Arts concert Nov. 5 at 3 p.m.
Enjoy singing, dancing, musical performances and acting performances by members. Admission costs $1 per person.

Arts boosters pumping gas Nov. 5

Dowagiac Fine Arts Booster Club is sponsoring a gas pumping event Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Steinman Shell, Family Fare and Judge’s Marathon at Five-Mile Corner north of town.
Profits from donations will be used to help Thanksgiving and Christmas families Fine Arts Booster Club has done for the past three years.
