Anonymous letter angers Kidwell

Niles Township Supervisor Jim Kidwell is upset about an anonymous letter sent to himself, several township officials and local media outlets, questioning whether a building behind Kidwell’s home is in compliance with township ordinance.
The anonymous writer questions if taxes are being paid on the building and if proper permitting was obtained. The writer also alleges someone is living in the structure.
Kidwell says the building is nothing more than a storage shed.
“It’s 12 years old. It’s not something just built yesterday,” he said. “There has never been anyone living there.”
Kidwell calls the letter a “political attack” and believes it was sent in retaliation of Kidwell continuing to seek obtaining a summary report from the legal firm that investigated a complaint against township Treasurer Jim Ringler.
Township Assessor Carol Hill will examine the building and Kidwell will provide a report thereafter.
