LANSING — Gov. Rick Snyder announced appointments to the Michigan Citizen-Community Emergency Response Coordinating Council (MCCERCC) and the Crime Victim Services Commission.
“The safety and well-being of Michigan’s citizens is a key goal. We are fortunate to have individuals of this caliber working to ensure

our communities are safe,” Snyder said.

MCCERCC

Michigan Citizen-Community Emergency Response Coordinating Council ­— the MCCERCC supports and enhances Michigan’s homeland security, community health, public safety and all hazard preparedness with responsible planning and leadership.
Marc Breckenridge is appointed.
Breckenridge, of Ypsilanti, is the director of emergency management and homeland security for the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Emergency Services Division. He previously served as a technical coordinator for Huron Valley Ambulance and as an EMT for Novi Ambulance Service.
Breckenridge is a licensed paramedic, a professional emergency manager and a Michigan hazardous materials emergency response professional.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in hazardous materials and paramedic technology from Siena Heights University.
Breckenridge fills a vacancy created by Samuel Hopkins and will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2011.
He will represent individuals with technical expertise related to emergency response.
The appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

Crime Victim
Services Commission

The commission works to increase and enhance victim assistance in communities throughout Michigan.
Donald Condit and Victor Fitz are appointed.
Condit, of Grand Rapids, is an orthopedic hand, wrist and elbow specialist at Donald P. Condit, MD, PLLC.
He also serves as an associate clinical professor of surgery at Michigan State University, a clinical instructor for the Grand Rapids Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program and clinical lecturer at Grand Valley State University.
Condit is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, Michigan Orthopaedic Society board of directors and the Kent County Medical Society.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in pre-professional studies from the University of Notre Dame, an MBA from Grand Valley State University and a medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School.
Condit will represent members of the medical profession and replaces Frank Ochberg.
Fitz, of Cassopolis, is the Cass County prosecutor and has 28 years of prosecution experience. Before being appointed prosecutor, Fitz served as the senior assistant prosecutor in the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office.
He also served in the prosecutor’s offices in St. Clair and Tuscola counties.
Fitz is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Michigan Sheriff’s Association and Dowagiac Rotary Club.
He earned both a bachelor’s degree in history and a law degree from Valparaiso University in Indiana.
Fitz will represent those admitted to practice law in the state not less than five years immediately preceding his or her appointment.
He replaces Frank Rhodes.
The appointees will serve a three-year term expiring Sept. 27, 2014.
Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
