Niles’ Courtney Brattain, the 2010 Miss Apple Festival, is competing this weekend for the title of Miss Michigan USA 2012.
The competition is slated for Friday through Saturday in Port Huron, Mich. The city will welcome more than 100 outstanding young women representing every corner of every major city in Michigan.
“We are overwhelmed by the response and caliber of all the participants from Michigan,” said, Melissa Pitchford, executive director with the Miss Universe Organization. “The Miss Michigan USA competition offers women in the state of Michigan a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to advance their personal and professional goals. The Miss Michigan USA and Miss Michigan Teen USA pageants will be offering more $1 million in college scholarships to be awarded to the winners, finalists and semi-finalists.”
The competition consists of three proportional segments: evening gown, fitness/swimsuit and the final question.
The winner of Miss Michigan USA will claim the title and the prize list, which includes travel, wardrobe, college scholarships and most importantly — the honor to represent the state of Michigan in the Miss USA pageant, which will telecast in primetime on the networks of NBC. Miss USA goes on to represent the U.S. in the Miss Universe competition.
