As with any organization, the Niles Elks Lodge 1322 strives to do as much as possible for its members and the

Allan

community. Unfortunately, “doing more” often requires more funds, which are not always available.
This is what spurred trustee Stanton Walter to plan the first Niles Elks Wine Tasting last year. The second annual event will be held this Saturday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Elks.
The Niles Elks provide support to the community by sponsoring children’s teams, providing college scholarship opportunities, contributing to Project Graduation, Southside Prom, offering Hoop Shoot and Soccer Shoot competitions, Christmas baskets and many other events that benefit the children of the community.
This year’s wine tasting will feature seven Michigan-based wineries: Round Barn, Free Run Cellars, Lemon Creek, Domain Berrien Cellars, Contessa, Tabor Hill and St. Julian. More than 20 wines will be available for tasting. Gourmet hors d’oeuvres prepared to match specific wines will be available to further enhance the tasting experience.
During the event representatives from the wineries will be available to answer questions about specific wines or ideal food pairings. Wine will be available by the glass after the tasting is over.
The Emilee Allan Duet will perform at 8:30 p.m. Emilee Allan is musician from Edwardsburg who is gaining regional recognition as an up-and-coming performer. Her music style has been described as light pop/alternative country. She recently performed during the summer concert series at Riverfront Park to much success.
Tickets are available for $12 and include light dining and entertainment. Tasting tickets — eight tickets for $10 — can be purchased at the event. A full bar will be open for the festivities.
Reservations are encouraged, as seating is limited to 150 people. For more information contact the Elks Lodge at 683-0133.
