Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edwardsburg will have a blessing of the animals ceremony Sunday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m.
The special ceremony will be held in the church parking lot to bless animals/pets in honor of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. His feast day is celebrated Oct. 4.
The parish has held the event for a few years now and it has been very well-received.  The main coordinator has been Tom Pabreza of Woodlands in Cassopolis.
The ceremony, which is about 10 minutes or so long, is open to people of any and all faiths (or even none at all) who would like to have their pet blessed by the pastor, Fr. Joe McCormick, OSA.
Area veterinarians as well as vendors of pet products are invited to showcase their products and/or services.
The church is located at the corner of U.S. Highway 12 and Lane Road, east of Lunker’s. The church phone number is (269) 699-5870; the best contact person at the church would be either Fr. Joe or Maura. The parish website address is www.ourladyedwardsburg.org.
