A Niles man was killed in a motorcycle-tractor trailer crash Tuesday.
Milford Evans, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle struck a semi tractor trailer in Howard Township.
Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. reports that the crash occurred at 7:45 a.m. when a motorcycle driven by Evans was traveling southwest on Terminal Street and failed to yield at the intersection of Terminal Street and Zilke Road. The motorcycle then struck the side of a semi tractor trailer that was turning from the east section of Terminal Street onto the northeast section of Terminal Street.
Evans was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries suffered at the time of the crash.
The driver of the semi tractor trailer, Dennis Raabe, 51, of Niles, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash; a seatbelt was worn by the driver of the semi; and the motorcycle driver had a helmet on at the time of the crash.
Assisting at the scene was Michigan State Police, Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Service and Howard Township Fire Department.
