Stormy weather forced the cancellation of Saturday night’s high school football game between Edwardsburg and Immaculate Conception.

The game was scoreless when it was halted because of the weather with 6:21 left in the first quarter.

The Eddies and Knights, which were originally scheduled to start their game at 6:30 p.m., didn’t start until 8 because of the weather. At 9:45, fans were notified about the cancellation.

Immaculate Conception, which traveled to Edwardsburg from Elmhurst, Illinois, possessed the ball twice and was forced to punt after its first offensive possession. On their second drive, the Knights had the ball on their own 38-yard line after a pass interference call on the Eddies. The game was then stopped.

On its lone offensive possession, Edwardsburg drove the ball to Immaculate Conception’s 46-yard line before having to punt. Lee Williamson rushed for seven yards on two carries for the Eddies.

Penalties plagued both teams as the Knights had four penalties for 20 yards and the Eddies totaled two penalties for 25 yards.

Edwardsburg, which owns a 1-0 record, plays next Friday at Bronson. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
