STEVENSVILLE —Two first half goals were all that was needed by the Lakeshore Lancers Thursday.
Niles got outscored 2-0 in the first half and Lakeshore holds on for the 2-0 victory.
Lakeshore took the lead just 10 minutes into the game when the Lancer offense dribbled the ball into the box and placed a shot in the lower corner.
It was another 20 minutes before Lakeshore scored again on a direct kick from 30 yards out.
“Lakeshore is a quality opponent and did a nice job of controlling the tempo,” said coach Holtgren. “In the first half, we were able to create some opportunities, but had difficulty within the offensive third. In the second half, we played a man down for almost the entire 40 minutes. I was impressed that we kept Lakeshore from scoring and created a couple of quality shots.
“We still need to take pressure off our defense by controlling the ball more. Our touch and execution have been off and we need to find a rhythm again.”
