PAW PAW — Mattawan captured both the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams captured the team titles at the Paw Paw Harvest Festival Thursday afternoon.

The Wildcats scored 37 points to easily outdistance runner-up Paw Paw in the girls’ standings, Kalamazoo Hackett finished third. Niles was sixth and Dowagiac ninth.

Lindsay MacMillan of Mattawan was the overall winner with a time of 19:54. Niles’ top finisher was Bridgett Carpenter, who was 18th with a clocking of 23:26. Hannah MacDonald was 35th with a time of 25:10 to lead the Chieftains.

Mattawan scored 32 points in the boys’ race. Kalamazoo Hackett was second with 54 points. Niles finished fourth and Dowagiac sixth.

Thomas Meeker of Mattawan was the overall winner with a time of 16:51. Dowagiac’s Chris Gantt was third with a time of 17:06 and Niles’ Sam VandenHeede was fifth with a time of 17:27.
