The Brandywine tennis team earned its first Lakeland Conference victory of the season Wednesday afternoon at Plym Park with a 6-2 victory over visiting Bridgman.

The Bobcats (1-1-1 Lakeland Conference) swept the singles flights, which included a forfeit. Brandywine split the doubles flight to earn the victory.

“This is a huge win for us,” Brandywine coach David Sidenbender said. “I am so proud of this team. Bridgman is a quality program and to beat them is a great accomplishment for these kids. Especially the way we did it — three tiebreaks won and by winning five actual matches.

“With the forfeit, we only had to win four matches to win, but we really wanted to have a convincing win by winning a majority of the matches without their help. We fought hard and never gave up. That is what we need to do every match.”

Jake Fiero (No. 1 singles) and Mike Robbins (No. 2), along with Jordan Harper and Ryan Probst all won second set tiebreakers to help the Bobcats to victory.
