BERRIEN SPRINGS — The Brandywine volleyball team was 0-4 at the Shamrock Quad Thursday night.

The Bobcats were defeated by Lake Michigan Catholic, New Buffalo and Berrien Springs twice.

Brandywine lost in the opening round to Lake Michigan Catholic 25-13 and 25-18.

Brandywine grabbed an early 3-1 lead as Mikayla Kemp served up a pair of winners and Ashley DeJonge collected a kill off a back row attack.

DeJonge made it 5-4 with a serve before the Lakers tied the match and took a 6-5 lead on the Bobcats.

Kills by Mackenzie Shelton and Jessy Cooper kept the match close.

Lake Michigan Catholic went on a small run, turning a one-point lead into a 19-10 advantage.

Shelton stopped the run with a kill, but the Lakers reeled off another four points to move to within two points of the opening set win.

Cooper’s kill kept LMC from finishing off the victory, but a net error on the Bobcats gave the Lakers’ the victory.

Lake Michigan Catholic’s Hayley Barker set the tone to start the second set, serving up the first eight points.

Brandywine never really recovered.

DeJonge had six straight service winners to cut the Lakers’ advantage to 21-15, but was as close as the Bobcats would get.

Brandywine fell to Berrien Springs in its second round match 25-18 and 25-19.

In the final round, New Buffalo posted a 25-16 and 25-24 win over the Bobcats.

In the championship round, Brandywine matched up with the host Shamnrocks again, falling to Berrien Springs 25-14 and 25-13.
