Two injured in Edwardsburg crash

The Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police recently released information about a recent traffic crash with sustained injuries near M-62 and Gateway Drive.
Police Chief Kenneth Wray reported that officers are investigating a traffic crash involving a motorcycle and a car that took place at 7:55 a.m. Aug. 22 at M-62 and Gateway Drive.
A motorcycle driven by a Lewis Maxfield, 58, of Nappanee, Ind. with a passenger, Maxfield’s wife Andrea, 64, was going north on M-62 when a vehicle driven by Barbara Cook, 87, from Cassopolis was attempting to turn left onto Gateway and turned in front of the motorcycle. Police were assisted by Edwardsburg Area Ambulance and Maxfield and his wife were transported by ambulance to South Bend to be treated for their injuries.
Citations were issued and alcohol did not seem to be a contributing factor.
