CASSOPOLIS — The following activities are scheduled the Cass County Council on Aging in September:
Sept. 1, Thursday: Lunchtime Little Theater. The Misfits will entertain during the lunch hour in this final presentation of the season. Entertainment is free; lunch costs about $5. Noon.
Sept. 1, Thursday: Medication drop-off. Bring in unused, expired or unwanted medications for proper disposal from 10 a.m. to noon. Medications must be in their original, labeled containers and signed in when dropped off.
Sept. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, Thursdays: Dance Club. Dance to a variety of musical styles and enjoy the fellowship of friends. 9 a.m.
Sept. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, Fridays: Knitting and crocheting. The group is open to anyone who likes to knit or crochet, regardless of skill level. They share techniques, stories and fun while knitting items to donate to charity. 10 a.m. to noon.
Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28, Wednesdays: Cribbage Club. Open to cribbage players of all skill levels, play begins at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Sept. 9, Friday: Senior Health Fair. Health screenings and information for better, healthier aging. Sponsored by Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital. Call to schedule appointments. 8 a.m.– noon.
Sept. 12, 14, 21 and 22, Mondays and Wednesdays: Evening Zumba®. Zumba is back from its summer break Sept. 12 at 5:45 p.m. September’s classes FREE (evening class only).
Sept. 12, Monday: Brain Aerobics. “Fitness for your Mind” exercises the brain and stimulates neurons. This is a free class, but you must register due to space limitations. This class is open to everyone. 10 a.m. to noon. Same class is repeated on Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Dowagiac.
Sept. 12, Monday: Movies for Grown-ups. Monthly Monday movies are back to regular features from AARP’s “Best Movies for Grown-ups” list. Free popcorn. Movie starts at 1:15 p.m.
Sept. 12, Monday and Sept. 28, Wednesday: Computer assistance. Friendly volunteers from Cass District Library help individuals with computer issues in the redesigned Information Center. Use COA computers or bring your laptop. Sept. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. and Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Sept. 15, Thursday: MS updates. Karen Freshwater, physician’s assistant at Bronson Neuroscience Center, will discuss symptom management, therapy, side effects of medicationsand more. Program sponsored by Teva Neuroscience. Sept. 15 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Sept., 19, Monday: Quilting Club. All quilters are welcome to join the Quilting Club. The group will create, learn and share their wares by donating them to local charities. 10 a.m. –1 p.m.
Sept. 28, Wednesday: Flu shots. Van Buren/Cass District Health Department is offering flu and pneumonia shots. For information on cost and to make appointments, call the Health Department at (269) 445-5280 after Sept. 5.
Sept. 28, Wednesday: Caregiver’s Support Group. Aimed at those taking care of ill or elderly loved ones, the group lets caregivers to discuss issues.
