Project Connect to link citizens to community resources

Imagine a community that has strong partnerships and collaborative efforts that combine existing strengths and creates new opportunities to overcome challenges.
Project Connect is a Barrier Busters activity of the Housing Resource Network of Berrien County. It is a one-stop shop location to access numerous community resources. It will also offer an assessment of each individual or family.
The public is invited to meet at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 601 Sycamore St. in Niles Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Agencies and volunteers are asked to be present from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Breakfast, lunch and giveaways will be provided thanks to the following businesses: Christian Service Center, Dr. Beckermeyer, Dr. Beistle and Dr. Jilek, Dr. Rusher, Dr. Wyant and Dr. Gourlay, Jimmy John’s, Lowery’s Meat Market, McKinney Vento Program-Berrien RESA, Milano’s Pizza, Niles School System, Saylor’s Pizza, Subway, Veni’s Candy and Wings, Etc.
The event will also offer free massages from Beauty and Body Wellness Day Spa and free hair cuts, on site, from Exquisite Images for Christ (Danetta Moore and Francesca’s Salon).
The Niles Police Department will be present from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. to fingerprint children and check car seats.
Some of the agencies involved include: Area Agency on Aging, Berrien County Cancer Service, Berrien County RESA-McKinney Vento Program, Berrien County Health Department, Berrien County 4-H, Big Brother Big Sister of Berrien and Cass, CARES, Cass Family Clinic-MIHP, Child and Family Services, Christian Service Center, Community Healing Center, Department of Human Services, Emergency Shelter Services, Fair Housing Center, Ferry Street Resource Center, Fuller Center for Housing of Berrien County, Gateway Inc., Great Start Collaborative, Intercare Medical Services, Lake Michigan College, Lakeland Health Care, Legal Aid, The Link Crisis Center, Michigan Works, Neighbor to Neighbor, Niles/Buchanan Habitat for Humanity, Polly’s Place, Pokagon Band, Pregnancy Care Center, Riverwood Center, Safe Shelter Services, Southwestern Michigan Neighborhood Housing Services, Therapeutic Equestrian Center (TEC), Tri-county Head Start, United Way of Southwestern Michigan, USDA Rural Development and the Volunteer Center.
Project Connect is still in need of volunteers to greet and guide participants through the process.
