The Niles-Brandywine Girls Softball Association’s 14-17-year-olds concluded their season on Wednesday evening as Shelton’s Farm Market beat Greater Niles Community Federal Credit Union by the count of 10-4.

Shelton’s would get on the scoreboard first as Brande Overholt drove in Ciara Peel with an RBI single in the second inning.

Greater Niles would come back in the fourth on an RBI single by Madison Drajer to tie the game at 1-1.

With two outs in the fifth inning, it appeared that Greater Niles’ catcher Taylor Ratkay had picked off Overholt at third base to end the inning, but a safe ruling allowed the inning to continue and Faith Metz took advantage lacing a line shot into the left field gap driving in two runs and giving Shelton’s the lead it would never relinquish.

Shelton’s tacked on four more runs in the sixth inning with RBIs going to Mikayla Kemp, Savannah Peppers and Miranda Smallwood.

Greater Niles would come back with three of its own in the bottom half of the inning as Jordan Walczewski drove in Sydney Carlson and Sara Toth and Walczewski each scored on wild pitches.

In the last inning, Shelton’s added three more runs making the lead 10-4 as Mackenzie Orphinditis doubled deep to center field driving in a runner. Brooke Hojara scored on an error and Orphinditis scored on a fielder’s choice.

Shelton’s only needed to win one game as they were still in the winner’s bracket whereas Greater Niles needed to win twice.
