Fire Department goes to Haines garage fire

Dowagiac Fire Department reports that at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, the department responded to a garage fire at 101 Haines St.

Shift Officer Robert Nelson reported the first engine arrived at 2:05 a.m. and found the structure totally involved with fire as well as two vehicles parked in front of the garage.

The garage was destroyed as well as a 2006 Jeep.

A motorcycle in the garage was also a total loss.

A 2011 Toyota car was heavily damaged.

No injuries were reported and the fire department was assisted by Pride Care/Coloma EMS as well as the Dowagiac Police Department.

It is noted that frequent lightning was in the city at the time the fire was discovered.

City firefighters cleared the scene at 3:05 a.m.
