This had occurred while the campers, approximately 28 9- to 11-year-old boys and girls, were in the dining hall eating.

It was discovered that someone went through personal items of the campers in two cabins and vandalized two additional vacant cabins.

Some personal electronic equipment and a small amount of cash were taken from the campers’ cabin.

Investigation by Cass County deputies discovered that the suspects had came to the camp by floating on inner tubes.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects then floated back to the public access where they got on a four wheel all-terrain vehicle.

The ATV was discovered at a residence nearby.

When deputies contacted the owner of the residence where the ATV was found, it was discovered that the two males who had been using the ATV had recently left the residence in a vehicle and that between the time the theft occurred and the time that deputies had arrived at the residence, the vehicle had been stopped by the Decatur Police Department for a traffic offense.

It was also revealed that one of the males, an 18-year-old from Vandalia, had been placed under arrest for drunken driving.

The investigation revealed that the aforementioned 18-year-old, along with Drew Hamilton, 21 of Osceola, Ind., had floated across the lake from the public access and had stolen the items missing from the cabins.

Hamilton was arrested a short time later and was lodged at the Cass County Jail.

He was arraigned on Monday for four counts of beaching and entering.

His bond was set at $10,000, cash or surety.

The 18-year-old subject who was arrested for operating while impaired by the Decatur Police Department is also being charged with the burglaries and his name will be released once he is turned over to Cass County authorities and arraigned at a later date.

All of the stolen items were recovered and returned to the owners.
