CASSOPOLIS — Adam Learn, 14, of Three Rivers, sustained fatal injuries at 5:37 p.m. Monday, June 6, after a diving accident at his Newberg Township home.

Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reported Tuesday night that Adam, along with two 14-year-old friends from Three Rivers and Constantine, were diving off a platform at the Learn residence on Welburn Street.

The sheriff said an investigation concluded that one of the boys jumped into the water, accidently jumping on top of Adam.

Adam sustained a fatal injury to his neck and back.

He was pulled out of the water approximately 15 minutes after impact by his father and a Newberg township firefighter.

Newberg Township Fire and Ambulance, along with Life Care Ambulance, assisted deputies at the scene.
