A four-run fifth inning lifted visiting Lakeshore to a 7-3 comeback victory over the Dowagiac Chieftains baseball team on Monday afternoon.

After a scoreless first inning, the Chieftains took the lead in the bottom of the second inning with a run before adding another run in the bottom of the second inning to take the 2-0 lead into the third.

Neither team could manage to plate a runner in the third inning then the flood gates opened for the Lancers in the top of the fourth.

After seeing their two-run lead disappear and become a two-run deficit, the Chieftains were unable to cut into the lead in the bottom of the fifth.

The Lancers would tack on two more runs in the top of the sixth to increase the lead to 6-2 before the Chieftains would get their chance in the bottom half of the inning.

Dowagiac managed to cut the lead to 6-3 heading to the final inning, but were unable to plate any more runners.

Lakeshore scored an insurance run in the top of the final inning to increase its lead to four. The Chieftain would leave the bases loaded in the bottom half of the seventh, coming up short against the Lancers.

Dowagiac finished the game with six hits as Zac Hyatt, Cal Cox and Mike Pranschke each had two. Pranschke and Cox each drove in a run.
