Dowagiac man injured in two-vehicle Newberg crash

CASSOPOLIS — Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his office investigated an injury crash on M-60 near M-40 on Thursday, April 21, at 4:9 p.m. in Newberg Township.

His deputies report that a vehicle driven by Jessica Kelly, 20, from Niles, was stopped on the roadway waiting to turn left.

A vehicle driven by James Harris, 40, from Dowagiac, was westbound on M-60 and did not see the other vehicle stopped.

Harris then rear-ended the vehicle driven by Kelley.

Newberg ambulance treated Kelley at the scene and she was released. Harris was taken to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac by Newberg ambulance for minor injuries.

Harris’ air bag deployed, safety belts were used and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
