The Dowagiac varsity track team hosted Wolverine Conference foe Three Rivers on Thursday afternoon where the Wildcats came away victorious.

The Chieftain girls fell 91-45, while the boys were defeated 113-24.

The Chieftains claimed six victories as Kaisha Martin and Regina Kennedy garnered two individual wins each. Martin was also part of the 400-meter relay team as was Jacoya Brookins, who gathered in the other individual victory.

Martin captured titles in the 100-meters with a time of 12.42 and the long jump with a leap of 16-foot-8, while taking second in the pole vault with a height of 7-9.

Kennedy led the way in both the shot put and the discus with throws of 32.5 and 75-5 respectively.

Brookins easily won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.50, while she placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.22.

Brookins and Martin led the way for the Chieftains in the 400-meter relay as they teamed up with Andrea Wade and DeVaughna Huff to win by more than two seconds in a time of 55.09.

Also claiming some points for the Chieftains were Hazel Kennedy with a second place throw in the shot put of 29-10.5 and Wade in the 200-meters with a time of 29.82.

The boys weren’t quite as fortunate as the ladies as they could only claim three first place finishes.

Chris Gantt managed two of those victories in both of the long distance races — the 1600-meters and 3200-meters — with times of 4:52.50 and 11:02.23 respectively. In both of his races he won easily, winning by nearly 25 seconds in each.

Scoring second place finishes for the Chieftains were Austin Adams in the 100-meters with a time of 11.23 and Mike Bennett in the 200-meters with a time of 24.31.
