Erin Stanton’s patriotism essay judged third in district

District 7 Veterans of Foreign Wars held the annual Voice of Democracy/Patriot’s Pen banquet at Decatur Post 6248.
VFW Post 1855 Ladies Auxiliary Chairman Ann Biek and Carl Biek attended with their third-place winner, Erin Stanton, and her family.
Erin, a senior at Dowagiac Union High School, read her essay, “Does Patriotism Still Matter?”
She received a patriotic medal, certificate, trophy and a check.
VFW Post 1855’s Patriot’s Pen, Allyssa Elbin and family, were not able to attend.
She did receive a participation medal and certificate.
Thank you to local winner Erin and all who entered from VFW Post 1855 and Auxiliary.
