Dowagiac Board of Education Monday night at the middle school accepted Superintendent Dr. Mark Daniel’s recommendation to renew administrative contracts.
Extended were Kincheloe Principal Dawn Conner, Dowagiac Middle School Principals Mike Frazier and Matt Severin, Justus Gage Principal Marcy Hendress, Patrick Hamilton Principal Heather Nash, Sister Lakes Principal Gretchen Hart, Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations Hal Davis, DUHS Principal Paul Hartsig, DUHS Assistant Principal Kelly Millin and Athletic Director Scott Lawler.
Also being renewed are supervisory and advocate contracts for Maintenance Supervisor Dave Daniels, Technology Director Randy Gross, Transportation Supervisor Kevel Kelm and Advocate Randy Yoder.
The board approved the hiring of Curtis Partee as a K-12 student advocate — a new position from in-school suspension. He will be paid $35,000 per year, pro-rated for the balance of the 2010-2011 year.
In something new, the board will be serving dinner to the Top 10 graduates of the Class of 2011 and their parents at 5:30 p.m. prior to the April 18 meeting, which will take place in the middle school Performing Arts Center instead of the DMS cafeteria.
Sara Lawrence was hired as middle school girls track coach, which pays $2,109.
President Larry Seurynck and Sherry File were absent.
Vice President Michelle Helmuth conducted the March 21 meeting, which went into closed session for a negotiations update and discussion of pending litigation.
