Frank. J. “Pete” Miller, 81, of Lakeshore Drive in Niles, died at 2 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2011 at his home of natural causes.

Mr. Miller was born June 6, 1929 in Niles to Frank J. and Clara A. (Anderson) Miller. He was a lifetime resident of Niles. He retired in 1990 after 44 years of service at French Paper Co. in Niles.

Pete was an avid hunter, fisherman and trap shooter. He was a member of the Edwardsburg Conservation Club. He enjoyed traveling to Minnesota and the Upper Peninsula in Michigan and hosting fish frys.

On July 2, 1950 at First Presbyterian Church in Niles, he married the former May A. Burrows, who preceded him in death on March 10, 2011.

Mr. Miller is survived by his brothers, Paul (Harriet) Miller and Richard (Dorothy) Miller of Niles; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jim and Fran Weaver of Niles; Jim’s children, Heather Zimmerman, Jamie Zimmerman and Josh Weaver, and special friend George Allen Kachur.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Almond, Francis Miller, Mary Bachman and Helen McKibbin.

Funeral services for Frank J. “Pete” Miller will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor Ronald Smith of Niles officiating.

Interment will be at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
