Richard W. Kitchen, 76, of Edwardsburg, died Feb. 24 , 2011 at Michiana Health and Rehab.

He was born Dec. 24, 1934 in Cassopolis to the late Clark N. and Betty (Grove) Kitchen. Also preceding him in death was a stepson, Jeffery Huffman, and brother, George Kitchen.
Richard was a retired Untied States postal worker in South Bend. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was discharged in 1958. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and American Legion Post 365 Edwardsburg.
He is survived by daughter, Rebecca Kitchen Gibson (Nick) of Del Ray Beach Fla.; stepdaughters, Jody Scott (Lee) of Vandalia and Cheryl Rhodes (Bill) of Culver; and stepson, Jay Huffman of South Bend; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A celebration of Richard’s life with family and friends invited to share in memories was held at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28 at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, North 17033 Cleveland Rd., South Bend.
Per his wishes, cremation will take place.
