Ice storm leaves power customers in dark

CASSOPOLIS — At 4:30 p.m. Monday about 7,500 Midwest Energy Cooperative members remained without service after damaging ice storms covered the region overnight.

Crews have been working on restoration since early Monday morning and will continue into the night. The outages remain very widespread across the cooperative service territory.

In southwest Michigan the greatest impact is in Cassopolis, Vandalia, Dowagiac, Constantine, Decatur, Three Rivers, Marcellus, Jones, Schoolcraft, Vicksburg, Mattawan and Lawton.

In the southeast territory, most impacted include Tecumseh, Cement City, Addison, Hudson, Clayton, Adrian, Blissfield and Morenci. Midwest Energy Cooperative is a member-owned electric utility providing electric distribution and an assortment of energy-related programs and services to more than 35,000 customers in 11 counties  in southern Michigan and northern Indiana and Ohio.
