CASSOPOLIS — Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his deputies handled a personal-injury accident at the intersection of Dailey Road and Mathews Street in LaGrange Township at 12:12 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15.

The driver, identified as Ryan Mannikko, 18, of Otsego, was traveling south on Dailey Road when he went off the roadway at the southeast corner of Dailey and Mathews Street and struck a tree.

He was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was then airlifted to Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo for treatment of his injuries.

Dowagiac Fire Department and Coloma ambulance assisted deputies at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
