Coach Ruthie Mitchell helped Lauren Ludwig, Kaci Lintz, Peyton Pruitt and Brady Duval (alternate) achieve their spelling bee goal by staying after school with them Monday through Thursdays from November through February.

“I felt really nervous to be up there in front of everyone.” said Kaci Lintz.
“It was like watching a scary movie, you never know what will happen next,” said Peyton Pruitt.

“The words came from about ten different language origins, with challenge words that were crazy!” said Lauren Ludwig.

In November, Brandywine Elementary School had a school-wide spelling bee, and the three finalists got to go to the Cloverleaf Spelling Bee and compete. The winner of the Cloverleaf Spelling Bee got to go to Washington D.C for the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee.

Out of 58 spellers, Lauren Ludwig came in 15th, Peyton Pruitt came in 18th and Kaci Lintz came in 20th.
