Robert Lee Wright, 90, died Dec. 16, 2010.

Robert was born in Yazoo City, Miss. July 22, 1920 to a proud young mother, Fannie Henderson. His father was Charlie Wright.

Robert married his childhood sweetheart, Ruth Delaware. She preceded him in death on June 30, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Bernice Lipscomb, and stepson, William Anthony Overton.

He loved to read, fish, watch the news and be with his family on all occasions.

Robert was baptized and accepted Christ as his savior in 1984 at Peoples Protestant Church of Cassopolis under the leadership of the Rev. Robert L. Merritt.  He lived alone in Niles, where he was attended by two grandchildren. He became ill after he fell and broke his hip in August 2010. He moved to Illinois, where he received the loving care of his daughter, grandchildren and some great-grandchildren.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Fannie and Herman Lipscomb of Midlothian, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Charles Lipscomb and Wendy Hatcher of Cassopolis, Herman Lipscomb, Jr., Elonda Lipscomb-Herron, Robert Lipscomb and Venus Sykes of Illinois, Cynthia Lipscomb of Georgia, and Seth Lipscomb of South Bend; 20 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 at The New Testament Church of Jesus Christ in Robbins, Ill.

The family observed a private interment Dec. 23, 2010 in Calvin Community Cemetery, Cassopolis.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to Connelly Chapel, Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.
