CASSOPOLIS — Robert Ziliak at the end of the final 2010 meeting said he is not seeking to be retained as chairman of the 2011 Cass County Board of Commissioners Jan. 6.

Ziliak, R-Milton Township, ousted Chairman Robert Wagel, R-Wayne Township, a year ago.

“Serving this past year as your chairman has been at times hectic, challenging, fun and rewarding,” Ziliak said.

“With the winding down of the year comes the winding down of my term as chairman.

“At this time, I am announcing I will not seek re-election as chair for next year. I believe I’ve made a very positive improvement on the operation of county government, and I hope whoever is elected, he or she continues to make the improvements that are just starting to come to fruition. In my opinion, the new chair should be somebody who is extremely fiscally conservative like me.”
