Catherine A. Zubrus, 90, of Missions East Drive, Niles, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010 at home following a brief illness.

She was born Oct. 22, 1920 in Chicago to Frank Rill and Catherine (Zweig) Rill. She moved from Spring Hill, Fla. to Niles in 2005 and previously lived in Chicago.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Niles. She made priest vestments while in Chicago.

Catherine married Vit Zubrus on Nov. 4, 1946 in Chicago. He died Feb. 11, 1985.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Wieghart and Elizabeth Pehan; and brothers, Joseph Rill, Frank Rill and John Rill.

She is survived by several nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Niles with the Rev. David Otto of the church officiating.

Burial will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Ill.

Friends may call beginning one hour prior to services at the church.

Arrangements were made by Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
