Richard M. Hyatt, 75, of Dowagiac, passed away at 9:06 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 9, 2010, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

Richard’s life began on Aug. 1, 1935 in Dowagiac, the son of Milton J. and Mamie G. Marshall.

He was united in marriage to Linda Schuur, who precedes him in death, on May 1, 1964 and to Mary Ellen Park, who also precedes him in death, on March 26, 1984.

Richard was employed as a maintenance man at Lee Memorial Hospital.

In retirement, he enjoyed hauling trailers for the Hi Line Co. in Elkhart, Ind. Richard was also a registered boiler engineer.

His loving family includes: his children, Jerry (Becky Ahmad) Hyatt, “T” (Tracy) Hyatt, Larry (Reeni) Hyatt and Michael (Sarah) Hyatt, all of Dowagiac, and Dixie Long of Rockford, Ill.; grandchildren, Zachary, Mollie and Anthony Hyatt, Jessica Whitmore and Cameron Ahmad; sister, LaVerne Ruff of Holland; and brothers, Lester Hyatt of Dowagiac and Donald Hyatt of Batesville, Ark.

Richard’s family will gather with friends Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where his funeral service will be at 3 led by Pastor Brian DeLong of Apostolic Lighthouse Church. Richard will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
