Elin’s life began on Feb. 15, 1909, in Sweden, the daughter of Anders G. and Maria (Johansson) Ericksson.

She was united in marriage to Otto Gunnar Schar on April 13, 1934, in Chicago. 

Elin was employed as the school cafeterias manager for Chicago Public Schools for 20 years. 

She is survived by her son, Gunnar Schar of Sister Lakes, and four grandchildren. 

Elin, 101, of Sister Lakes, passed away at home on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, seven sisters and two brothers. 

Private graveside services will be held at Dewey Lake Cemetery at a later date.
