MATTAWAN — The Niles freshmen football team rallied from a 12-8 deficit to defeat host Mattawan Thursday night 14-12.

The Vikings (4-1) grabbed an early 8-0 lead and held an 8-6 advantage at halftime.

Mattawan rallied to go ahead 12-8, but Niles able to pull out the two-point victory.

Scoring for the Vikings were Darek Bullock-Mills on a 40-yard run and Gaige Nichols on a 30-yard touchown pass from Steve Smith.

Balazs Bruckner and Kale Pollard both had two sacks.

Landon Kulwicki had a pair of strips and two fumble recoveries to help seal the victory.
