Niles soccer team gets past Marcellus 4-2

MARCELLUS — The Niles soccer team raised its record to 7-3-2 with a 4-2 non-conference victory over host Marcellus Tuesday night.

The Vikings grabbed a 3-1 halftime advantage and never looked back.

Dustin Wright staked Niles to a 1-0 lead off the assist from Cicone Palmore with 37:48 to play in the opening half.

Marcellus tied the score at 1-1 three minutes later on a penalty kick for a handball in the box.

Albert Werland gave the Vikings a 2-1 advantage with 31:22 remaining when he took a free kick and played it around the wall.

Chase Hullinger got the game-winner with 10:39 to go in the opening half when he scored off an assist from Palmore to make it a 3-1 contest.

The lead reached 4-1 for Niles when Christian Rackley lobbed the ball over the keeper on a corner kick with 25:35 left in the match.

The Wildcats capped the scoring with 11 minutes remaining.
