A Cassopolis man sustained injuries in an accident Monday afternoon in Howard Township, Cass County.

Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports that his deputies handled a personal injury crash at the intersection of Barron Lake Road and Terminal Street at 1:27 p.m.

Joseph Swetay, 40, of Cassopolis, was traveling southbound on Barron Lake Road when he crossed the center line and collided with a north-bound vehicle driven by Elizabeth Servis, 63, of Dowagiac.

Swetay was transported to Lakeland Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Seat belts were worn and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Howard Township Fire Department and Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance assisted deputies at the scene.
