ELGIN, Ill. – The Ancilla College volleyball team won their season opener on Tuesday in straight sets, defeating Morton College 25-15, 25-20, 25-14.

The Lady Chargers (1-0) were led by Demi Schrader, who was 18-for-19 in serving with two aces and 25 assists on the day.

Nikki Trudell led the way with 15 digs, while Miranda Hammons and Danni Burge contributed 13 and nine digs, respectively.

Brandy Sechrist had seven kills for Ancilla.  Jordan Hopper added six.

The Lady Chargers will open at home today when they host the Grace College junior varsity and Kankakee Community College in a tri-event.

Play will begin at 10 a.m.at the LifePlex in Plymouth.
