Carol Y. Lamberton, 76, of Creek Road, Niles, died at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 at her home in Niles following a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 9, 1934 in Union City, Mich. to Jesse R. Munger and Lela Whitehead. She moved to Niles in 1964 from Kalamazoo.

She was a surgical nurse prior to her marriage and then helped her husband run the farm and care for the family. She later enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and spending time drinking coffee with friends at many local coffee shops.

She married Robert J. Lamberton Jr. on April 12, 1964 in Kalamazoo. He died Dec. 19, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Y. Lamberton, who died at birth; sisters, Dorothy Smith and Laura Riley; and a brother, Allen Munger.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Jody) Lamberton III of Niles, William R. Lamberton of Niles and Steven L. Lamberton of Niles; grandchildren, Kristen Lamberton, Robert Lamberton IV, Jerrico Lamberton, Courtland Lamberton, Hanna Head and Justin Utley; and a sister, Marjorie Powell.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles. Officiating will be Pastor Daniel A. Greegor and Pastor George E. Matthews of Sumnerville Bible Baptist Church.

Burial will be at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society or pancreatic cancer research.
