PORTAGE – The Niles varsity volleyball team went 2-2 at the Portage Northern Invitational on Saturday.

The Vikings were defeated by Gull Lake 25-19 and 25-20, before defeating Holland 25-19 and 25-16 and  the Portage Northern JV 25-17 and 25-21.

Niles was defeated by Big 16 Conference West Division foe Mattawan 25-19 and 25-18.

Niles will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 11 when it competes in the Lakeshore Invitational.

SCHOOLCRAFT — The Buchanan volleyball team reached the quarterfinals of the Schoolcraft Invitational before being eliminated by Centreville.

The Bucks defeated Martin 25-17, 25-23, Fennville 25-17, 25-11 and Cassopolis 25-14, 25-3 in pool play.

In the quarterfinals, Buchanan fell to the Bulldogs 25-18 and 25-20.

Buchanan will be in action today at Dowagiac.
