UPDATED: A jury of 12 women and two men has been chosen in the case of the People vs. Dakotah Eliason.

Opening statements are expected when the trial resumes later this afternoon and Berrien County Prosecutor Art Cotter stated jurors would hear the audio recording of the 911 call placed by Eliason’s grandmother Jean Miles just moments after discovering her husband Jesse, had been shot.

Judge Scott Schofield ordered 14-year-old Dakotah Eliason shackled at the feet per a request by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department. Listed as possible witnesses to take the stand during trial were Jean Miles, parents, Steven Eliason, stepmother Lisa Eliason and mother Mary Apfel. Niles High School Principal Jim Knoll may also take the stand.

Eliason is charged with open  murder in the death of his grandfather, Jesse Miles.
