Pastor Edgar Alan Smith, 73, of Niles died at 7:42 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Ind. of natural causes.
He was born Nov. 27, 1936 in Hammond, Ind. He lived in this area since 1988.
Edgar was a pastor and a member of Buchanan Christian Church. He served in the ministry for 25 years.
He married Linda (Wiggins) Smith on Sept. 28, 1963 in Michigan City, Ind.
Edgar is survived by his wife, Linda, of Niles; sons, Kenneth Robert (Tracey) Smith, of Louisville, Ky. and Daniel Charles (Maria) Smith, of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother, Charles (Joyce) Smith, of Carterville, Mo.; stepsister, Roen Speroff, of Munster, Ind.; and six granddaughters, Hannah, Halle, Emilee, Emma, Jenna and Sophie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010 at Buchanan Christian Church in Buchanan with pastors Bill Pullin and Lowell Kosak officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010 at Hoven Funeral Home in Buchanan.
