CASSOPOLIS — Wash Green Jr., 66, of Niles died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, in Lakeland Medical Center, Niles.

He was born Oct. 29, 1943, in Crawfordsville, Ark., to Wash Green Sr. and Mary (Freeman) Green.

He married Deborah Outlaw on Dec. 16, 1977, in Annapolis, Md. She survives.

Wash served 22 years in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of platoon sergeant. He was a member of the Willie H. Dixon Masonic Lodge 143 F, Oklahoma.

Along with his wife, Wash is survived by: his daughter, Randi Green of Dowagiac; his son, Wash Green III of Niles; two sisters, Ura Green of Benton Harbor and Oretha Green of Battle Creek; four granddaughters, Tiyana and Jayla Outlaw, and Aireus and Jocelynn Green; one grandson, Damien Outlaw; nine nephews; eight nieces; 20 great- nephews; 20 great-nieces; eight great-grandnephews; and 17 great-grandnieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dorothy Green and Helen Green.

Family and friends will gather Monday, Aug. 16, at noon until time of service at 1 p.m. in Connelly Chapel, Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.

Pastor Donald L. Bedney II will officiate.

Interment will follow in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Sumnerville, with military honors provided by the U.S. Army, Efton James American Legion Post 206, Cassopolis, and William E. Lozier VFW Post 10704, Cassopolis. His family prefers memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 115 S. Lafayette Blvd., South Bend, IN 46601.
