The Niles City Council unanimously approved an exemption certificate Monday for Midwest Eco Products, a new business, located at 1919 Industrial Drive in Niles.

The exemption is for equipment and construction costs estimated at $679,275. Midwest Eco Products manufactures environmentally friendly paper products using 100 percent recycled materials. The company expects to hire six to eight employees in the area within the next two years.

Third Ward council member Betty Arndt welcomed the business.

“Thanks for bringing in the jobs,” she said. “We’ll take every one we can get.”
